Winter Dreaming

Winter is a time for dreaming…

Here at Crosscurrents we’re dreaming of the slow pace of glaciers, the mysteries of the river valley, and of drummers and dancers returning to perform their traditional songs and dances after nearly 200 years.

What are you dreaming of?

Here’s a photo of the old Coumbe House on a winter day in the 1960s. What were our Coumbe relatives dreaming of back then? They couldn’t have imagined the events we held this past fall. A talk about the river flowing the other way? A storyteller from Hawaiʻi? A tribute to the family matriarchs up on YouTube?

The details would have been unimaginable, but we like to think that at root, our Coumbe relatives were still dreaming about the same thing: Tippesaukee as a gathering place for family and friends to connect on a deep level, to explore new ideas, to appreciate the magnificence of the natural world, and–let’s not forget–to have fun and enjoy each other’s company!

Please stay tuned for events in 2025. We’re still here beneath the blankets of snow, planning for another eventful year at CHC!
